A pair of Ottawa police officers who were arrested after they allegedly tried to steal nearly $7 million worth of cocaine from a drugstore on a cold night are facing charges.
The RCMP in Ottawa released surveillance video of the men Friday evening, hours after the arrests.
A suspect in the case was arrested by RCMP officers after a series of calls were placed to the drugstore at about 1 a.m.
ET, said Staff Sgt. Brian McVean.
The two men have been charged with drug trafficking, possession of cocaine, and possession of proceeds of crime.
McVane said the investigation into the drug-store theft is ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone with information about the theft to contact them.
The suspects were in the store at the time of the theft, which took place at about 11:30 p.m., and had their vehicle impounded by police.
The suspect’s car was found to be a stolen vehicle and the stolen property was found at a residence.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Mcvane said investigators had received a tip about the drugs stolen from the drug store.
