The smart phone case Google unveiled at its annual Google I/O developer conference this week is the most radical change to an Android phone yet.
The new design, called the Smartphone Case, is designed to prevent phones from falling off of tables, tables from falling onto walls, and even chairs from hitting the floor.
But it’s not quite ready for prime time yet, and the company has a long way to go before it can compete with Apple’s iPhone case.
Google has spent a year trying to develop the case, and this week it launched an Indiegogo campaign for the first phase of production.
The company is seeking $1.3 million in funds, but is already well past its goal.
Here are the main highlights of the case: A smart design The Smartphone Area has a built-in sensor that measures the position of the phone on a table, so that it can determine if the phone is upright or sitting on the table.
The sensor also tracks the position and orientation of the user’s hand, so the phone can adjust itself as necessary.
